One month ago, Joyce James Consulting hosted a gathering of dedicated child welfare advocates at the inaugural “Building Bridges, Removing Barriers” Summit. For one full day, we assessed the state of our nation’s child welfare system, and evaluated evidence proving how the system persists in having a negative impact on Black children, families, and communities. More broadly, we discussed how institutional racism continues to impede the progress of Black people in virtually every helping system.
We will not cease in our efforts to hold systems accountable for the harm they inflict.
